 Ferry 080

Today I was given a tour of the ferry ship Julia that will service Cork & Swansea.   I was given the tour by the new CEO Tom Barret.  Tom is an old boss of mine from our Choice Hotels Ireland days.  The service is in good hands with Tom onboard.

The Julia was very impressive both inside & outside.  I counted 7 areas where your can have food & drinks.  The car deck looked massive.   There were also plenty of cabins to pick from.  Tom said both the ferry trip & cabins will be very competitively priced.

The route itself starts on the 01st March 2010.  There will be up to 8 sailings each week (4 each way)  Tom said after doing research they have found the vast majority of people favoured evening sailings.  This will allow people to arrive in Cork or Swansea early in the morning.  7am in Cork and 9am in deep West Cork?

I would like to wish the service the best of luck.  For more info go to http://www.fastnetline.co.uk/  They are still looking for investors.

The experience of leaving Cork by night, passing the lights of Cobh on your left is magical. I’ll never forget it. I loved arriving after good night’s sleep.

I remember leaving on the old Inisfallon from Cork City. The old emigration trail. Took it a few times.

Ya I used the other ferry a good bit too. I definetely prefered the evening sailing aswell as u could go on and relax for a bit, have some dinner and then head off too bed and get a nice sleep and wake up refreshed in the morning pulling into swansea. Also it was great that u didn’t have to drive 2hr 30mins to rosslare and then another 1 and a bit from fishguard. delighted its back and hope it does really well
